How do I unlock my Ranger software using a license file?

This article applies to license files Setup.dat or License.dat

This Ranger developer license format requires Ranger core version 4.9.3.0 or greater.

If you're installing or re-installing Ranger

1. Place Setup.dat in the same directory as the Ranger installer before you run the installer
   
2. The installer will rename the file License.dat and place it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Silver Bullet Technology\Ranger\Scanner Plug-ins\[Plugin folder] folder.
   

If Ranger is already installed

1. Manually copy the Setup.dat file to the directory above.
   
2. Rename the file as License.dat
   

To fully activate your license (internet connection required)

1. Install the new license using the instructions above.
   
2. Run RangerFlex.exe as an administrator.
   
3. You will receive an error message asking you to make sure that your computer has an internet connection. Don't worry, this is to be expected. Behind the scenes, Ranger is contacting our license server to ensure that the license is valid.
   
4. Close Ranger Flex
   
1. At this point, you should be able to use Ranger (in Ranger Flex and in your applications) with or without internet access, as long as you have an active internet connection long enough for the license to be verified.
   
5. Run Ranger Flex to verify a successful unlock
