Problems upgrading Ranger for Panini MVX
Note: These instructions are only for Ranger v2.
If you find MultiDemo (a Panini sample application) installed on the
computer this indicates that more recent Panini drivers are installed.
These drivers are not compatible with Ranger v2 and must be uninstalled
before performing the following instructions. To uninstall the more
recent Panini drivers run the uninstaller located in the add/remove
programs app. Look for "Panini n.n.n Universal Installer" where "n" is
some number. If you desire to use the more recent Panini drivers you
will need to update to Ranger v4.
The instructions below should not be
used for Ranger v4.
According to Panini support, their 2.x installer needs to run at least a couple of times to clear up some registry settings.
The Panini 2.x installer should be located in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Silver Bullet Technology\Ranger\MVX\API Files\driver
In that folder is a file called Setup.exe
In
more recent releases of Ranger you may find that the folders below
exist. In this case, run the installer (setup.exe) in both paths as
described below. Install both the drivers even if only one of the
scanners is being used.
C:\Program Files\Silver Bullet Technology\Ranger\VisionX\API Files\MvxVxDriver\setup.exe
C:\Program Files\Silver Bullet Technology\Ranger\VisionX\API Files\IDealDriver\setup.exe
When
invoked, the Setup.exe installer responds based on what it finds
already installed. It may prompt you to remove a prior installation or
it may just progress as a normal install.
According to Panini you
should run the installer repeatedly at least until you have completed
one full cycle of remove, then reinstall. That one complete cycle should
be sufficient to straighten things out.
