How do I solve connection problems with with my SmartSource Pro/Value/Adaptive?
If you're using Ranger for SmartSource PVA (version 2 Ranger)
- Confirm the SmartSource Startup application is running
- There should be a small icon next to the time at the bottom of the screen that looks like a check scanner.
- When you mouse over the icon a version number will appear (ie "8.8.5").
- If this icon does not appear then start the SmartSource Startup application in the start menu.
- Start->All Programs->SmartSource->SmartSource Startup
- This will start three applications that will soon disappear.
- The scanner icon should now be present next to the time.
- Try connecting to the scanner with your application.
- If this is successful you may want to find a way to run the SmartSource Startup application after logging into your computer.
- Does the Exerciser Application connect to the scanner?
- Start->All Programs->SmartSource->Utilities->Exerciser
If you're using Ranger for SmartPVA, aka SmartAPI (version 4 Ranger)
- Confirm the SmartSource Startup application is NOT running
- There should be a small icon next to the time at the bottom of the screen that looks like a check scanner.
- When you mouse over the icon a version number will appear (ie "8.8.5").
- If the icon is present, Left mouse click on the icon and then select "Shut Down..."
- Retry the application.
The steps above did not work. What do I do next? Please include a Ranger log and a description of situation.
